Me wanty badly.

I don't know, I think I'm going with EL headers with mine. Makes the FA20 sound like a rotary!
I like the sound of UELs, but its way too common in the Pacific NW.

You can't really lose with either one, they both make more power. I have heard cases for both making more power, so in the end it comes down to the noise really.
I like the meatier sound of UELs, gives the car an angrier bark! EL headers still sound nice though, just lacking a bit of punch for me, and more people make a EL with a cat.

My plan is to go catless long tube EL headers from nameless (apparently they are finally close to release) and just have one high flow cast in the front pipe (also from nameless)

I am going to wait and see if anyone comes out with a UEL with a cat besides FA20Club. Also long tubes are the better choice, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, not many of the current EL headers are long enough. The last picture I saw from nameless, the tubes snaked up into the area between the block and radiator, before coming back down to the factory over pipe mounting location.
Any reason you want to keep the header cat? I just kind of view it as a potential early failure point due to the heat.

Well I need a both cats to pass emission, and I am kind of scared to get one due to the possibility of early failure, like you said. FA20Club said that isn't the case and the headers should last. I am thinking of going catless and then when emissions come around just replacing it with the stock headers. . . but that is a hassle.

One cat should be enough to pass the sniffer (so I'm told) and a tune will take care of any unlikely CEL that can't be beaten by O2 sensor spacers. Or do you have a California-like visual inspection as well?
For me either way, my car is registered until 2017, so if I fail emissions at that point I'll just tackle the problem then. I plan on keeping all the OEM equipment in storage just in case.

I am thinking about selling the OEM mufflers and midpipe mostly because the Perrin one is just so much better, I am keeping the frontpipe and back(or forward?).
From my understanding it is a visual inspection although we don't need to keep the factory cats, we can change those. Maybe I should go catless header for 4 years or so. I should probably upgrade the overpipe as well, to help flow.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I'm slowly replacing the whole exhaust starting at the back end, and moving through the headers.
Is there a market yet for used OEM FA20 equipment? I'd think the best bet would be to hold on a few years for people with stock cars to need parts replaced.

People really like the rims cause you can put them on other Scion's, so people want those. Not sure about the exhaust parts though, I have seen a few things for sale, but they were priced at around 200 dollars.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. I was not planning on replacing my wheels for quite a while, but if there is a market for them I'll probably reconsider it.

I think the tC has the same bolt pattern, not sure about the other two.
I want to replace my wheels but the more I try learning about upgrading to a bigger/wider wheel the scarier it gets.

Yeah, same here. I've never changed out wheels before, so I'm totally in the dark as to what kind of preparations are involved.

All I know is, is that larger diameter wheel makes a car slower. So with an 18 inch wheel you want a sidewall size of 35 to be OEM diameter. Width...I have no idea
![]() 09/03/2013 at 12:40 |

Ideally, I'd like to keep the same width (for low grip sideways shenanigans), but it's damn near impossible to find aftermarket wheels as skinny as the stock ones.

I never get sideways ever, so I am going wider for autox and better grip, not to mention looking sexy!
